Discussions & Debates > buses on the estate

Why oh why do the council see fit to run buses through routes on this estate when it was quite obviously not designed to take them? - They have caused numerous accidents (damage to cars) and frequently badly cut up the grass on the verges when they cant fit down the road. Lets put a stop to the silly routes and only run the buses on the main routes - after all, most of the buses are empty!

Hi Paul,

I actually rely on the bus service to get to work and I know that many other people do too. However, I agree that the route down Portia Way (number 68) is a hazard with the tight bends and cars parked on the street. I think the other roads are fine (Earl Rivers Ave, Ophelia Drive and Othello Ave) as they are main routes through the estate. I certainly would not like to see the bus service disappear but perhaps there are merits to considering the route it takes through the estate.

Sarah

Tend to agree the routes need to be changed to cover the main roads,

Portia way is a joke for bus drivers and i'm sure people would'nt mind walking a few extra yards to catch the bus !!!

The only solution is to have a smaller bus. Why the 68 is not the size of the G1 I don't know.

This is because there are no more suitable roads than portia way if you accept the bus has to cut across the estate (which it should - skirting round it would serve even fewer people).

And also the bus does not run on a sunday or after 7 at night!
