New to the Area?

Warwick Gates is very well situated for shopping. On the estate itself we have the Co-op Late Shop which does the work of ‘the corner shop’ of old. On the same site there is a hairdresser, dispensing chemist, estate agent and two take away food outlets; one a Chinese and another a ‘chippie’.

The nearest Post Office is in Whitnash, half a mile to a mile, depending where you live on the estate. The Post Office is also a general store and in the same parade of shops there is a florist, dentist surgery, another chemist, hairdresser, convenience store and old-fashioned butcher's. Pet owners will be happy to know that on your way to the post office you will find a vetinerary surgery on Heathcote Road.

Local too, at the same distance in the other direction, along Tachbrook Park Drive, is the Shires Retail Park. Here you will find a large supermarket along with many of the larger national chain stores retailing everything from plants, nail polish, D.I.Y. to furnishing, carpet and car parts. This is also the nearest petrol station and car wash. For your local video/DVD hire turn left out of the shires Retail Park down the hill following the signs for Warwick; you can't miss it!

Local newspapers

We are fortunate to have one daily and two weeklies. The daily paper (tabloid format) is The Evening Telegraph. It has 4 editions, the Warwickshire Edition covers our area.

The Courier, a tabloid, is a weekly newspaper with several editions. As we are closer to Leamington, the Leamington Courier might be the most appropriate although we are situated in the District of Warwick. All this is very confusing for the newcomer. The two editions are identical; except the first couple of pages devoted to very local news.

Finally, there is the Leamington Observer delivered free of charge to most of the estate on a Thursday. All are on sale at the Co-op late shop together with the nationals. The best way to get to know about your new locality is to read the local papers!
